The Picks:
Anzu And The Realm Of Darkness HC – Viking Books for Young Readers releases a new title just in time for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Anzu has just moved to a new town during Obon, a time for families to remember and celebrate their ancestors. But she is more worried about whether her new classmates will make fun of her name and family traditions. She tries to avoid the holiday festivities, but she is unexpectedly transported to Yomi, the Shinto underworld. There, she meets a dog who is actually the Gatekeeper of Yomi, and the suspiciously welcoming Queen Izanami. When she discovers Izanami has been kidnapping the spirits of lost children for decades, she must choose between helping them or escaping. If she doesn’t find a way to free the spirits and reach the gate leading to home before sunrise, she too will be doomed to roam Yomi as a lost spirit. Fans of 5 Worlds and Spirited Away will find a lot to enjoy in this new title.
