Coming Attractions: Graphic Novels at Book Expo 2019

June 5, 2019 by Esther Keller

NYC Book Expo 2019 has come to a close. And while it ran for 3 days, piggybacked by Book Con, at the Jacob Javitz center in NYC, I was only able to attend 1 day. I would have surely enjoyed another day, and would have probably seen so much more, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and came home with piles of books to read.

Review: ‘Aquicorn Cove’

October 2, 2018 by Johanna

Aquicorn Cove by Katie O’Neill Oni Press, $12.99 Ages 7-11 The author of The Tea Dragon Society returns with a graphic novel bound to satisfy her audience. The Altered History of Willow Sparks by Tara O’Connor Oni Press, $19.99 Ages 13 and up The classic idea of a magical transformation, and the lesson of being careful what you wish for, is revisited in this high school-set graphic novel that does a terrific job with individual moments but doesn’t fully assemble them into […]

Review: ‘Terrible Lizard’

May 26, 2015 by J. Caleb Mozzocco

Terrible Lizard Written by Cullen Bunn Art by Drew Moss Oni Press; $20 The meaner, snarkier part of my critic’s brain can’t help but wish Cullen Bunn and Drew Moss’ comic book about a little girl and the Tyrannosaurus Rex she befriends was a great deal worse, if only so that it could legitimately be […]
