Exclusive: Return to ‘Hollow’ with ‘The Woman in White’ | News

Back in 2021, we broke the news of the YA graphic novel Hollow, by Lumberjanes co-creator Shannon Watters, co-writer Branden Boyer-White, and artist Berenice Nelle, a modern, LGBTQ+ retelling of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Now we have more news from Sleepy Hollow: There’s going to be a sequel, with the same cast of characters but a new, Washington Irving-inspired ghost, the Woman in White. Like the first book, Hollow: The Woman in White will be published by BOOM! Studios under their BOOM! Box imprint. Here’s the publisher’s description:
It’s been a quiet, perfect winter so far in the town of Sleepy Hollow. Izzy and Vicky’s relationship is amazing… except for some disastrous dates, which don’t mean anything…right? (Right?!) And best friends Croc and Leon are rock-solid, trying to make a hit out of their new ghost-hunting web series…until jealousy springs up and threatens to ruin things with Croc’s girlfriend Marjorie (and maybe things between him and Leon, too–if only Croc would notice).
Then, in a string of spooky events, Leon vanishes near Raven Rock, a spot made famous by hundreds of years of sinister legends. Luckily, the friends have a history of solving supernatural riddles, and help from their own ghostly ally–the Headless Horseman of the Hollow himself!
But the longer Leon is missing, the more dire things seem. And the deeper the friends get into the mystery of Raven Rock’s most famous ghost, the Woman in White, the more they realize they may be up against a force none of them are able to defeat…
“We got such an incredible response from readers on the first volume’s gorgeous visuals and sweet, spooky story, we couldn’t resist returning to the book’s world to show our version of Sleepy Hollow looking more distinctly beautiful than ever,” Watters said, in a statement accompanying the announcement.

“Working on this next volume was a blast, because it gave us the opportunity to dive into another of the Hollow’s famous legends. The Woman in White is arguably the second most famous ghost in Sleepy Hollow after the Horseman, and imagining our own spin on her tale that would make readers laugh and feel a tingle in their spines was such a fun process,” added Boyer-White.
Hollow: The Woman in White will be released on July 30, 2025, in comic shops and August 5, 2025, in bookstores. Cover art is by Naomi Franquiz.
