Amelia Aierwood Basic Witch GN – Z2 Comics debuts a graphic novel about family dynamics and finding yourself among it. Amelia is the least favorite daughter of L.A.’s most famous family of witches, the Aierwoods. While her sisters have all followed in their prominent parents’ footsteps, Amelia, a late bloomer, is still trying to find her calling. But it seems everything she does is a little off-brand. Using her powers for the most mundane problems can lead to magical misfires. With her family excluding her from their next great chapter—reality TV—Amelia, with the help of her brother Spaghetti (who she accidentally turned into a yeti), must carve her own path outside of her family’s influence. Readers young and old will enjoy this funny and heartwarming new volume.

Firelight Apprentice GN – Quill Tree Books releases a new graphic novel from the creator of Garlic and the Vampire. In a city fueled by electric magic and still recovering from a bloody war, Ada is concerned about her younger sister Safi. Her developing magical powers made her a target of deadly, power-thieving liches that prowl the kingdom. Safi would be safe studying under a king’s magician, but fresh memories of the war leave Ada conflicted. When a traveling group of magicians come to the city to perform, they recognize Safi’s talents and offer to take her on as an apprentice. Safi is excited by the new adventure, even though she would have to leave her sister and sickly father, while Ada still worries about her sister, as monsters can hide behind friendly faces. Fans of fantasy and adventure will enjoy this tale of sisterly bonds.
