Monster Cats, vol. 1
Story & art by PANDANIA
Seven Seas, published 5/7/24
Rating: Ages 10+
From the creator of Yokai Cats and The Evil Secret Society of Cats, comes a tale about… more cats. But these cats are very different from other cats… or are they?
In Monster Cats, we are introduced to various types of cats that resemble creatures of lore and imagination. These cats come in a variety of species, such as vampires, unicorns, werewolves, sphinx, yetis, and the list goes on and on.

But do they cause terror and create chaos for the humans in their lives?
Sometimes yes, but regular cats do that too, so are we really surprised?
(Reviewer’s note: I’m a cat-mom and grand-cat-mom, a grand-meow so to speak. I’ll let myself out).
In this new, fun, full-color series, we get to know the different species of monsters and truth to be told, as I was reading this manga, I would see my cats exhibit the mannerisms of the cats featured in Monster Cats. I’m sure Georgie, my one-year-old, could easily be a werewolf or nightmare creature that prevents their human from sleeping.
Yeah, Georgie’s definitely the latter, but I digress.
Each monster gets their own chapter showing how they interact with their human, whether disrupting their sleep, creating messes, or distracting their human through their singing/meowing.
So basically, cat is gonna cat. However, what is continuous with each cat is the love they have for their human, which has always been one of their most endearing qualities.
But then again, I’m a bit biased.
PANDANIA has once again created an adorable manga for cat lovers for all ages, showing that all cats are special and unique in their own way. Especially monster kitties.
