Blue Stars Volume 1 The Vice Principal Problem GN – Candlewick Press debuts a new series about two cousins who set out to save the world starting with their school. Cousins Riley Halfmoon and Maya Dawn move to Urbanopolis to live with their activist grandma. They get off to a rocky start as outgoing Riley thinks they’ll be instant BFFs, but introvert Maya just wants some space for herself. They start to feel at home at school, where Maya joins the Robotics Club and Riley bonds with some fellow gymnasts. When the two decide to run for sixth-grade class president, they find a common foe in the money, power, and lies they come up against. Shifting from competition to cooperation, they join forces like a pair of superheroes, using their individual strengths to save the day. With themes of family, community, and compromise, this first volume will entertain and inspire middle-grade readers.

Nothing Special Volume 1 Through The Elder Woods GN – Ten Speed Graphic releases the first volume in a new series by creator Katie Cook. Callie, a teenager with the ghost of a radish as a friend and a father who owns a magical antique shop, thinks she’s nothing special. She’s grown up in the human world and has only caught glimpses of the magical realm where her father collects his inventory. On her seventeenth birthday however, Callie and her friend Declan go to her home and find it in disarray and her dad missing. Finding signs of a struggle that point to the portal to the magical realm, Callie, Declan and Radish dive in together to find her dad and bring him home. Setting off on a fantasy adventure of a lifetime, the not-so-human teenagers may find they are both special in their own ways after all. This volume collects the first season of the Webtoon Nothing Special and features behind-the-scenes materials fans new and old will not want to miss.
