Ghost Book GN – Henry Holt releases a graphic novel inspired by Chinese mythology. July Chen sees ghosts, but because her dad insists they aren’t real, she pretends they don’t exist. When the Gates of the Underworld open during Hungry Ghost month, and ghosts run amok in the living world, it’s hard for her to ignore. She saves a boy ghost, William from being devoured by one such hungry ghost, and he becomes her first friend ever. Except he’s not a ghost. William is a wandering soul caught between life and death. While setting off to return William to his body, they learn a ghastly truth: For William to live, July must die. This dark yet hopeful tale about friendship, sacrifice, and the unseen ghost world is perfect for fans of Spirited Away, Coco, and Ghosts.
