The Picks:

Ember And The Island Of Lost Creatures GN – Harper Alley debuts a new graphic novel about friendship and self-discovery. Ember is a tiny boy living alone in a city of giants. He longs to find some place where he fits in. When he meets Lua, a kindly sea turtle, his dream may have come true when she escorts him across the ocean to the mysterious Puzzle Island. Here, Ember explores lush forests, deep caves and fantastical life as he attends the school for little creatures there. His classmates don’t seem to want to be his friends at first, leaving Ember to struggle to adapt to his new home. He finds himself at the heart of an otherworldly mystery and facing a strange creature from the deep that threatens everything he holds dear. While his classmates seem of little help, appearances can be deceiving, and friendship can come from the most unexpected of places. Fans of Hilda and Over the Garden Wall will enjoy this tale of adventure and finding your place.

Pizza And Taco Volume 6 Dare To Be Scared GN – Random House for Young Readers releases a new volume in their Pizza and Taco series. Pizza and Taco aren’t afraid! They are ready to prove they are brave, and they dare each other to be scared. They challenge each other to stay in dark closets and watch scary movies. It’s a piece of cake—sort of. They’re ready for the ultimate test—Ghost Pepper hunting! Armed with flashlights and hats, they are sure they won’t get scared…or so they think. This book for early readers will make kids laugh and bolster their reading confidence.
