Toon Books Returns With New Giggle and Learn Title

April 13, 2023 by Johanna   Leave a Comment

Toon Books‘ last original publication was in 2021 (with Blancaflor, The Hero with Secret Powers). In 2022, they were acquired by Astra Books for Young Readers. Now, they’ve announced new books coming later this year.

Caterpillars: What Will I Be When I Get to be Me? cover

Caterpillars: What Will I Be When I Get to be Me? is the latest in Kevin McCloskey‘s “Giggle and Learn” nature series. Other titles in the series include Snails Are Just My Speed!, Ants Don’t Wear Pants!, and Something’s Fishy, all of which are being re-released in paperback on April 18.

Caterpillars is due out on July 11 in both hardcover and paperback for ages 4-7. As with McCloskey’s other books, it’s done with painted art, telling simple yet compelling facts about the creature, its lifespan and anatomy, and how it becomes a moth or a butterfly.

Future releases this year include:

  • Paul Bunyan: The Invention of an American Legend by Noah Van Sciver and Marlena Myles, ages 7-10, out August 8
  • Gotta Go! by Frank Viva, ages 5-7, September 5
  • Shapes and Shapes by Ivan Brunetti, ages 4-6, October 3
