The Picks:
Enola Holmes Collected Edition Volume 2 TP – Andrews McMeel releases the second collection with three mysteries starring Sherlock Holmes’ teenage sister, Enola. In “The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan,” she must use the secret language of fans to help Cecily, the left-handed artist from the first volume, avoid marrying a man she doesn’t love. In “The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline,” her landlady, Mrs. Tupper, has been kidnapped over a cryptic message she supposedly brought back from the Crimea War. Enola must find the message and decode its meaning to save her. Finally, in “The Case of the Baker Street Station,” Enola must work with her brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft, to find a lady who has seemingly been kidnapped for her clothes. Adapting the last three books in the series of novels written by Nancy Springer, this volume brings things to a satisfying conclusion. It is a must for any middle school graphic novel collection.

Stanley The Snowman TP – Scout Comics Imprint Scoot releases a graphic novel in time for the holiday season. Jenny Rose isn’t like other girls her age. She’s not into dolls, the latest cell phones, or the coolest games. She’d rather spend time with her family and learn about their traditions from her grandfather. This year, he has passed on a secret ritual that only one family member in a generation can do: bring Stanley, a magical snowman that is the embodiment of the holiday spirit and their family history, to life! After months of preparation, the night finally arrives, but “Operation Stanley” doesn’t go as planned! Jenny’s family has decided to travel to Florida for the holidays and leave Stanley behind! Its time for a new operation, “Save the Holidays.” Jenny and Stanley will do whatever it takes to keep their holiday traditions alive, even if it means Stanley the Snowman must travel to Florida! This graphic novel is a great addition to any holiday collection.
