Ride On GN – First Second Books debuts a new graphic novel from Faith Erin Hicks. Twelve-year-old Victoria has always loved horses, but she becomes burned out from the high stakes, high stress, and high-pressure world of racing competitions. After falling out with her best friend Taylor, she takes a step back. She starts to attend Edgewood Stables, a smaller riding facility, with the goal to renew her love for horses. Victoria begins schooling a new horse named Quinn, while facing the challenge of dealing with Norrie, the queen bee who is making everyone ignore her. She thinks she’s fine, avoiding the other riders, but can she truly be happy with no friends, when she has to compete with Quinn and face her ex-best friend? Fans of Best Friends and Stargazing will want to pick this one up.

Tryout GN – Graphix releases a graphic memoir about friendship and wanting to fit in. Christina is one the few Asian American kids in her small Texas town. She and her best friend Megan, who is Iranian American, just want to fit in. When cheerleading tryouts are announced, both girls literally jump at the chance to join the squad. In middle school, cheerleaders are popular and accepted by everyone. They and their friendship must strive to survive the terrifying tryouts, and withstand the pressures of competition.
