Exclusive: Catch the Trailer for ‘Sea Serpent’s Heir’
We’re kicking off the week with some swashbuckling! We’re the first folks on the internet to get a look at the book trailer for Sea Serpent’s Heir, Book One: Pirate’s Daughter, coming in October from Image/Skybound. Feast your eyes:
In case you missed it, Image Comics and Skybound (the studio behind The Walking Dead, whose comics are published by Image) have started a new imprint, Comet, for middle-grade and YA comics. They’re kicking it off in June with Clementine, Book One, by Tillie Walden, which follows a teen character from The Walking Dead, and Everyday Hero Machine Boy, by Tri Vuong and Irma Kniivila, in September (check out our preview).

Sea Serpent’s Heir Book One: Pirate’s Daughter, is the first volume of a planned trilogy. Here’s the publisher’s description:
What if you were destined to destroy the world? For Aella, life on Kinamen Isle is one of boredom. Spending her days fishing and minding her aunts, she dreams of life beyond the horizon.
Everything changes, however, when she awakens an ancient evil within herself as it’s revealed that she’s the reincarnation of Xir, the serpent that almost destroyed the world. Worse yet, a fanatical religious organization has arrived on Kinamen Isle in search of Xir.
As Aella is forced to fight for her life, she’ll discover that her entire world is not what it seems. Her aunts know more than they let on and what exactly does the infamous Pirate Queen want with Aella?
Sea Serpent’s Heir Book One: Pirate’s Daughter (ISBN 978-1-5343-2129-8) will be available digitally on October 12 and in print on October 18. The publisher’s rating is Gr 6-9, ages 13-16.
