Borders GN – Thomas King and Natasha Donovan tell story of family and identity. A boy and his mother attempt a road trip from Alberta to Salt Lake City to visit his sister. The pair must pass through two border stops; one in Canada, and one in the United States. They are stopped when the mother declares their citizenship as Blackfoot. Her refusal to identify as either American or Canadian not only keeps them out of the US, but then denies them return into Canada. They are left in the space in between, their citizenship recognized by no one. But in that limbo, they find power in their connection to their identity and to each other. This moving story highlights a very specific experience for indigenous peoples whose homelands were split by political borders.

Finally a trip to Abyssinia by Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Trixie, Discord, and Capper ends with the group in jail. They must rely on Capper’s old friend’s cat burglary skills to get out.
