Piece By Piece: The Story of Nisrin’s Hijab from Amulet Books tops this week’s list of new comics, manga, and graphic novels, along with a new superhero comic from BOOM! Studios. Other highlights include the Sonic The Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Celebration featuring stories from creators old and new. Oni Press takes a look at friendship and anime fandom in Weeaboo, while Papercutz continues the Magical History Tour with a visit with Albert Einstein.

Piece By Piece: The Story Of Nisrin’s Hijab – Amulet Books releases a graphic novel about trauma and recovery with the help of faith, friends and family. Thirteen-year-old Bangladeshi-American Nisrin is attacked after giving a presentation at school in traditional Bangladeshi dress. Traumatized by the hate crime, Nisrin decides to wear hijab as she starts as a freshman in high school that fall. Her decision angers her mother and grandparents and makes her a target of students and teachers alike, but it also puts her on a path to discover more about Islam, learn her family’s reasons for leaving Bangledesh, and figure out what really makes her happy, with the help of friends old and new.

Getting Dizzy #1 – BOOM! Studios releases a new series about roller skating, friendship and superpowers. Dizzy wants to be the best, but everything she tries ends in disaster, even roller skating. But when the Negatrixes attack, everything changes for her. She is forced to take up the mantle of ‘Burb Defender. But in order to save the world, she has to assemble the coolest skating crew in the ‘Burbs! These superheroes-in-training bring the laughs and heart to the skate park, all while saving the day,
