Manga Classics Shakespeare: Modern English Editions

November 12, 2021 by Johanna   Leave a Comment

Manga Classics has announced a new line, Manga Classics Shakespeare: Modern English Editions.

The Manga Classics line publishes foundational works of literature adapted into manga format. They’ve previously released several works by William Shakespeare — including Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth — in unabridged full-text editions. Readers could read the entire play in the original language. Given the age of the work, however, some readers can find that language onerous.

There’s now a choice. The first two Manga Classics Shakespeare: Modern English Editions are those plays, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. They are available now at $19.99 each. Julien Choy illustrates, and Crystal S. Chan and Michael Barltrop adapted the works. Sample pages can be seen below.

Three more Modern English Editions are planned. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is due in December, with Hamlet and Othello due in 2022.
