Just Beyond Welcome To Beast Island GN – BOOM! Studios releases the second stand-alone original graphic novel in the new series from R.L Stine. Siblings Karla and Benny accompany their Uncle Bill to the remote island of Mala Suerte. The two bickering siblings accidentally break a sacred jade death mask, shattering any good luck they had with it. Making matters worse, the family discovers something terrifying and deadly lives in the river swamp, and their new-found bad luck makes them its target. And on an island, there is nowhere to run! This next volume in the new middle grade horror series is sure to thrill readers with some pre-Halloween scares. Check out our preview here!

History Comics The Challenger Disaster GN – First Second’s newest nonfiction series looks at the “Where were you?” moment of the 1980s. January 28, 1986 was the launch date of the Space Shuttle Challenger. Its mission was meant to be historic, as the ship’s crew included Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher to go into space. But when disaster struck, the mid-air explosion put the future of manned space shuttle missions in jeopardy. Set in the future, the story follows a group of kids as they do a class presentation on the Challenger explosion, examining what went wrong. Middle grade readers will find this historical event, told by relatable characters, very engaging.
