The Picks:

Drawing The Vote An Illustrated Guide To Voting In America GN – Abrams Comicarts takes a look at the history of voting rights in the US. Being able to vote is one of the most fundamental rights of being a US citizen. But how did we get to where we are today? This title looks at the history of voting rights and identifies the events and trends that led to the 2016 presidential election. It seeks to offer answers for how we got here and what we as Americans can do to make our votes count. Learning how and why voting is so important to making democracy work is a lesson one is never too young, or too old, to learn.

Weirn Books Volume 1: Be Wary of the Silent Woods GN – JY debuts a new series set in the same world as Night School. Ailis and Na’ya are cousins who attend school in the Night Realm. It is a school for vampires, shifters, weirns, and other supernatural beings that pass as humans. They have to deal with the same things normal humans do: annoying little brothers, first crushes, and cliques. But the shadows that can loom over them can be more literal than figurative. When a classmate who a bully suddenly becomes nice, Ailis and Na’ya are the first to nice something is wrong. Then Na’ya’s little brother D’esh goes missing, and a light is seen at a forbidden mansion in the silent woods. Ailis and Na’ya go to the mansion to confront its secrets. Night School was a fun series, and I’m excited to return to the world it set up and learn more about it.
