The Picks:

Garfield Volume 7 Garzilla GN – Boom! Studios brings back the cat that is larger-than-life with a new original graphic novel. An evil scientist is taking unsuspecting pets to use in a secret experiment he hijacked from another scientist. When Odie tries to stop him, he is taken too. But the experiment goes awry, unleashing giant pets—iguanas, ferrets, hamsters, and birds—on an unsuspecting city. Only a super-sized Garfield, sized up by cosmic rays and not pizzas, can save his dog friend and the day! Also included are shorts stories about private eye Sam Spayed and Jon’s continuing quest to grow a beard. Fans of this famous fat cat, and anyone that needs to put a smile on their face will want to pick up this title.

Fox And Little Tanuki GN – Tokyopop releases this captivating fable about animal spirits and finding redemption. Senzou is a black fox, a special animal born with great powers. But Senzou abuses his powers and is sealed away by the Sun Goddess. Three-hundred years later, he is given the chance to get his powers back, but he must earn them by helping a tanuki cub named Manpachi become an assistant to the gods. There is no escaping this assignment, as the pearl necklace around his neck causes him pain if he wanders too far from his charge or ignores his duties. With super adorable art and a story that will appeal to middle school readers as well as adults, this title is a must for any manga or graphic novel collection.
