The Picks:

All My Friends Are Ghosts GN – Boom! Studios presents a new original graphic novel about seeing yourself and helping others be seen for who they are. Unhappy with her life at school and home, Effie runs away and discovers a ghost school in the nearby woods. She makes friends with some of the students and begins to learn about all the amazing things they can do, like possession, poltergeist-ing, demon magic, and more. But when a mysterious spirit is spotted nearby, Effie is asked to help track it down. In order to succeed, she will not only have to show her friends she has something special but also learn to believe she has it too. Middle grade readers will enjoy watching the relatable Effie as she goes on her journey of self discovery.

Science Comics Crows Genius Birds GN – Science Comics looks at a creature that we often see but don’t know as much about. A crow makes friends with a dog named Buddy. As they go on a search for food, the crow educates Buddy about his species. Crows can make their own tools, lead complex social lives, and never forget a human face. Ask anyone who has hurt a crow with its family nearby. Crows can be as smart as some primates and can perform some of the same cognitive feats as human children. They are truly bird brains. Readers of all ages with an interest in Corvids should check this volume out. Science Comics never cease to educate, entertain and amaze.
