The Picks:
Bolivar Eats New York A Discovery Adventure HC – Boom! Studios returns to the visit the dinosaur next door. Sybil isn’t bothered by the fact that her neighbor in New York City is a dinosaur, but she’s concerned that Bolivar only likes corned beef sandwiches and has been missing out on one of New York’s great attributes – delicacies from around the world. She takes Bolivar on a tour of the five boroughs, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan, where they try such foods as knishes, falafel, dim sum, and of course, pizza. Readers young and old will enjoy this Discovery Adventure as they learn about the rich communities of the Big Apple through their foods and find other sites unique to the city.
Midwinter Witch HC – Graphix brings Molly Ostertag’s Witch Boy trilogy to a thrilling conclusion. It’s the Midwinter Festival, a reunion of the Vanissen family, and Aster is excited to compete in the Jolrun tournament as a witch. It goes against tradition, but Aster is determined to show everyone that he’s proud of who he is and what he can do. Ariel has more pressing thoughts on her mind: A mysterious witch has been visiting her in her dreams, claiming to know the truth about her past. While nothing goes according to plan for Aster and Ariel at the festival, the arrival of a powerful and sinister force threatens to destroy everything the young witches have fought for. They must find the courage to fight it together or else be torn apart by the dark magic. Fans will enjoy the conclusion to this story of friendship, family, and finding your true self.
