The Picks:
Lily The Thief GN – First Second “steals” a hit series from Europe. Lily is a young novice in a society of thieves. She dreams of becoming a master thief in the secret and perilous society, but that’s not going to happen when the Guildmaster of Thieves only assigns her the jobs of grave robbing and pick-pocketing. Lily may finally get her chance when, while on one of these lowly quests, she unearths a plot involving ancient kings and long forgotten gods. It’s a secret that could destroy the whole world. It will take all of Lily’s cunning to put the ancient evil to rest and save the same people who branded her an outcast. Lily’s smart and sassy ways will make her at hit with middle grade readers.
Johnny Boo Volume 10 Johnny Boo And The Midnight Monsters HC – IDW Publishing’s Top Shelf imprint continues the adventures of the best little ghost in the world. When the clock strikes 12, that’s when the midnight monsters come out. That might make some kids scared, but not Johnny Boo. Nothing can stop him from skateboarding on the back of a wild Tiger or plucking pumpkin ice cream from the gaping maw of a Spooky Tree. He does it all in the hopes that Susie Boom, the cute little ghost girl who lives on the moon, is watching everything with her telescope. Just in time for Halloween, Johnny Boo and his pet ghost Squiggle are back with a story for young readers that can turn any night into the spookiest of the year!
