The Picks:
Minecraft Stories From The Overworld HC – Dark Horse Comics brings together a collection of star writers and artists to tell tales from the world of Minecraft. This anthology features six stories, including a heartless griefer who bit off more than they could chew by Hope Larson, a birthday boy finding refuge from the daily grind online by Kevin Panetta of Zodiac Starforce, and rivals Witch and Pillager finding common ground by Rafer Roberts of Modern Fantasy. Minecraft fans will enjoy these short but fun stories set in their favorite realms.
Superman Smashes The Klan #1 – DC Comics releases a retelling of a 1940’s Superman radio serial by Gene Luen Yang. The year is 1946, and the Lee family has moved from Metropolis’ Chinatown to the center of the bustling city so Dr. Lee can be closer to his new job at the Metropolis Health Department. The two Lee children, Tommy and Roberta, try to adjust to the fast pace of the city and fit in with the neighborhood kids. But they are not welcomed by everyone. The Lees wake up one night to find a burning cross on their lawn, courtesy of the Ku Klux Klan. Daily Planet star reporters Lois Lane and Clark Kent dig into their story, but when Tommy is kidnapped, it’s Superman who leaps into action, with help from Roberta! With a story filled with historical ramifications and Yang’s personal retelling, this comic is a must for readers of all ages.
