The Picks:
Maker Comics Create A Costume GN – First Second makes cosplay dreams a reality with their new Maker Comics. With the comic convention just a few weeks away, Bea and Connor need some great costumes. They think it’ll be hard and cost a fortune, until Bea’s pet hamster, Costume Critter, the world’s cutest cosplayer, comes to their rescue! By following a few instructions, they are able to create fun, easy, budget-friendly costumes with a few modifications to thrift store clothes. Even mastering the sewing machine isn’t hard. This volume shows readers the techniques to make six costumes; magical girl/boy, witch or wizard, animal hoodie, space traveler or astronaut, superhero or villain, and monster or alien, as well as designing their own. Not only can these skills be used for conventions and Halloween, it will also give readers some basic sewing techniques they can use in their everyday lives.
Sonic The Hedgehog Tangle And Whisper #1 – IDW Publishing gives the two most popular new Sonic the Hedgehog characters their own mini series. Tangle the Lemur needs more action in her life. Whisper the Wolf is hunting an incredibly dangerous enemy named Sonic the Hedgehog! In a classic odd-couple adventurous team-up, the boisterous Tangle joins the soft spoken Whisper as they try to help solve each other’s problems. Or, they could just make things worse. This series is the first spin off mini-series since the Archie Comics Princess Sally series from 1995, and takes place between issues #16 and #17 of the main series. Fans and completists will want to pick this one up.
