The Picks:
Olympians Volume 11 Hephaistos God Of Fire GN – First Second is getting ready to bring an end to their series about the Greek gods with this penultimate volume. Hephaistos isn’t as well know as Zeus, Poseidon, Ares, or even his wife, Aphrodite. But this god, thrown from Mount Olympus as a newborn due to a physical deformity and raised by Thetis and Eurynome on the island of Lemnos, earns back his seat in the heavens thanks to his skills at the forge. Crafting exquisite gifts and weapons however, does not earn him the respect of his siblings, but they will know his wrath once the plan he has created is set in motion. George O’Connor’s spin on the Greek myths and gods has never failed to entertain, inform and surprise, so expect this latest volume to be no different.
SUPERS Volume 1 TP – IDW Publishing brings over a the series to be the first to win the French Association of Comics Critics Youth Award. Mat, Lili and Benji are immigrants, but they’re not the kind you would expect to meet. The three kids from a hidden planet in the constellation of Cassiopea were abandoned on planet Earth, hiding far from their home, trying to blend in and make new lives for themselves. They must deal with the pressures of starting a new school while being careful not to use their powers in public, for fear of being discovered. SUPERS blends family tension, super-thrills and classroom drama into story that kids will be able to relate to.
