Max And The Midknights Illustrated Novel – Crown Books for Young Readers releases a hybrid novel by the creator of the Big Nate series. Max is an apprentice troubadour, but dreams of being a knight. When they roll into the city of Byjovia, Max’s uncle Budrick gets kidnapped by the cruel King Gastely, so it’s up to Max to rescue him. With the help of the Midknights, a merry band of misfits, Max sets out on a thrilling quest where he must take on evil witches, face genuine dragons and defeat the evil Gastley to restore the realm of Byjovia to its former high spirits. Max and The Midknights started out as a spoof of sword and sorcery tales, but has found new life in this illustrated novel that uses the language of comics to create a hybrid story filled with comic strips and illustrations.
Click Volume 1 Places Everyone GN – Houghton Mifflin Harcourt introduces the girl who’s everyone’s friend, but nobody’s best friend. Olive “clicks” with everyone in the fifth grade, but doesn’t seem to fit into any cliques. So, when her friends start forming acts, Olive is left out without one to join. Lucky for Olive she’s got a supportive family and a green-haired aunt Molly to help her find her own place in the show and with her friends. This heartfelt story about self discovery and navigating friendships will appeal to upper elementary and tween readers.
