The Picks:
Archie #700 – Archie Comic Publications hits the soft reboot button as their flagship series hits a milestone. Summer vacation is over, and the Riverdale gang has returned after three months away. Betty and Veronica took off for their respective internships, and even Jughead got a job as a reporter for the Riverdale Gazette. But Archie, the only one of the gang to stay in Riverdale, won’t talk about how he spent his summer vacation. It’s a mystery his best friend Jughead can’t resist, but it seems Archie’s lips are sealed to everyone–except for a certain teenage witch. With a new creative team, this latest chapter in the Archie universe borrows a lot of atmosphere from the hit CW TV show Riverdale while staying true to Archie’s roots as a title for all ages to read.
Spider-Man Enter The Spider-Verse #1 – Marvel Comics introduces their newest Spider-Team with this standalone adventure. Peter Parker, with the help of Mister Fantastic, has traveled the Multiverse, and assembled a team of other spider-heroes. Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, aka Ghost Spider, Spider-Punk, spiky mohawk and all, and even Spider-Ham, travel to Universe 717 in search of GOG, an extra dimensional creature that was being used by other super villains. Mister Fantastic tried to transport him home, but he ended up in 717’s New York City instead, and doesn’t seem too pleased to see the Web Warriors. This series introduces all the Spider-Heroes that will be in the animated movie due out in December, as well as a reprint of Miles Morales’ first adventure in the Prime Marvel Universe.
