Graphix Announces Two New Raina Telgemeier Books
The most exciting news of the New York Comic Con, just held, for anyone involved with graphic novels for young people was Graphix’s announcement of two new Raina Telgemeier books coming in 2019.
Guts returns to the area that made her a superstar. It’s a graphic memoir, coming in September 2019, set before Smile. Telgemeier will describe her struggle with anxiety in fourth and fifth grades, including panic attacks and phobias around food and stomachaches, as well as visiting a therapist.

Before that, Telgemeier ventures into non-fiction with Share Your Smile: Raina’s Guide to Telling Your Own Story, described as “an interactive journal and how-to guide”. It will be out in April 2019 with writing prompts and other tips to putting together a story. She aims to share her techniques and knowledge to inspire kids to make their own comics. The book will also include some background on how Telgemeier put Smile together, including sketches and photos.
Be prepared for a lot of demand for these! Telgemeier’s works are always stunningly successful with readers of all ages.
