The Picks:
Ozy And Millie Volume 1 GN – Amp! Comics For Kids releases the first collection of the first comic strip by the creator of Phoebe and Her Unicorn. Ozy and Millie are two foxes who live and go to school in Seattle. Ozy is calm and thoughtful. He wears a top hat and likes to practice zen, while Millie is rambunctious and rebellious, often playing pranks on Ozy. These two best friends face the everyday challenges of middle grade students, such as facing bullies, taking tests, and dealing with the dread of going back to school after a surprise snow day. The strips explore the friendship between the two foxes, offering charming and fun stories flavored with Simpson’s sweetly philosophical humor. And it features a dragon as Ozy’s adoptive dad who is also a frequent Presidential candidate. What more could you ask for?
Monster Mayhem GN – Dial Books brings three great things that go great together; girls, science and giant monsters. Zoe is a science-obsessed girl who loves two things – inventing and building robots, and watching classic monster movies. One day, Zoe finds and accidentally activates a mysterious ring. The next morning she is face to face with a familiar monster in her window. Her favorite kaiju from the movies is here and he wants to be Zoe’s friend! It’s like a dream come true, but the ring hasn’t just brought her new friend to life. There are more monsters, and they are hungry. Zoe will need to put her robotics genius to work to stop them all. Christopher Eliopoulos, illustrator of the Ordinary People Change the World series, gets his own book that’s filled with sci-fi action and lots of laughs.
