The Picks:
Mysticons Volume 1 TP – Dark Horse Comics brings the characters of Nickelodeon’s new cartoon series to the world of comics. In the mystical land of Gemina, four girls, Arkayna, Zarya, Emerald and Piper, are brought together by a prophecy to battle evil. Known as the Mysticons, the girls work together to protect their home, Drake City. Evil biker twins have been stealing and using magic to keep the top spot in a deadly drag racing circuit and causing mayhem on the streets. The Mysticons go to investigate the biker twins, looking to stop their terror of the streets. This new contemporary urban fantasy taps into the popularity of magical girl titles such as Zodiac Starforce and Lion Forge’s Crystal Cadets, creating a world that tweens will enjoy.
Sheets GN – Lion Forge releases a story of determination, second chances, forgiveness and unlikely friendships. Marjorie Glatt feels like a ghost. Drifting through life, the thirteen-year-old girl tries to keep her deceased mother’s laundry business going, with no help from her grieving father, no friends to rely on, and the fastidious Mr. Saubertuck who want to take everything she’s worked for away. Wendell is a ghost. He also drifts through the afterlife, depending on sheets for his identity and seeking a purpose in the forbidden human world. Finding Majories laundry, he creates chaos in her life, seeming to threaten to destroy everything, but ends up helping her save it. Sheets is a heartfelt story that will draw readers into the sorrowful yet optimistic world.
