The Picks:
Kid Beowulf Volume 3 The Rise Of El Cid GN – Amp! Comics For Kids takes their English hero to meet a Spanish hero. Beowulf and Grendel find themselves in war-torn Spain, where they meet a young knight named Rodrigo. In a land where honor is hard-fought, allegiances are dubious and the bulls run wild, Rodrigo fights for the name he lost, the land he loves and the virtue they’ve both forgotten. Beowulf and Grendel have new lands to explore as they travel to medieval Spain and join in a swashbuckling action-adventure with a dash of romance. Kid Beowulf continues to be a perfect addition to graphic novel and mythic shelves.
Earth Before Us Volume 2 Ocean Renegades GN – Amulet Books takes a look back at the earliest lifeforms on Earth. Ronnie’s parents go on a business trip, and leave her with their neighbor, retired paleontologist Miss Lernin. Ronnie is hoping for another dinosaur-size adventure, but instead, they end up at the aquarium’s jellyfish exhibit. Ronnie can’t believe that jellyfish can be as cool as dinosaurs, so Miss Lernin takes her back in time to the Paleozoic era, to show her just how interesting prehistoric life was before the age of dinosaurs. The history of life on Earth is full of amazing and wonderful things. It’s great to see a series bring that to kids.
