The Picks:

Making Friends 1Making Friends Volume 1 GN – Making friends is a lot easier than keeping them in this new series from Graphix. Danielle had it so much easier in sixth grade. All her friends were in the same room and she knew what to expect out of life. Moving up to seventh grade, in a new middle school, with her friends now in different classes and forming new cliques, Danny is completely lost. The solution to her problem seems to come in the form of a magic sketchbook she inherits from her eccentric great-aunt. Anything she sketches in it comes to life, so what better thing to draw than the most amazing, perfect and awesome best friend ever! Enter Madison, Danny’s new best friend. The thing with best friends is, there’s no guarantee they’ll stay your best friend, magically created or not. Making and keeping friends is an age old problem that readers of any age will relate to and understand.

Pizzasaurus Rex 1Pizzasaurus Rex TP – Oni Press introduces a dinosaur unlike any ever seen, in this dimension or any other. Jeremy Duderman, the most extremely awesome scientific mid of his generation, and possibly the dorkiest dude in the universe, has invented a device, the Reality Alternative Dimensionator (R.A.D. for short). With it, Rex Raditude, the Pizzasaurus can enter our dimension. He’s a guitar-shredding, pizza-loving party animal with only one goal: to be a totally rad dude. But when Emperor Buzzkill and his horde of hapless minions arrive intent on ending pizza parties, skateboarding, and all things rad, it’s up to Rex and Jeremy to defeat them. Filled with plenty of humor and art that’s as rad as its title character, Pizzasaurus is sure to be hit in any middle school library.
