The Picks:
Kurdles Adventure Magazine #1 – Fantagraphics releases a comic magazine for readers of all ages. This issue features four stories including Greta Grump by Cathy Malkasian, the odd four-panel adventures of Pacho Clokey by Matthew Nastuck, Andrew Brandou’s Howdy Pardner trying to help Blue find Paul Bunyon, and the titular Kurdles by Robert Goodin, going on their own strange adventures. This new magazine is great for kids and fills the void left since the demise of Nickelodeon Magazine. It’s worth checking out.
Marvel Rising Squirrel Girl Ms. Marvel #1 – Marvel Comics brings together two of their most popular characters in a prelude to their upcoming animated movie. Ember Quade is a gamer girl with a secret; she has the power to bring video games to life. Her pixelated creations attract the attention of young super heroes Squirrel Girl and Ms. Marvel. They must work together to figure out what Ember is after while keeping her creations from wreaking epic destruction. Squirrel Girl + Ms. Marvel + video game Inhuman powers make the perfect recipe for a super fun adventure. It’s a great place for the next generation of readers to jump on with the next generation of heroes.
