The Picks:
Mythical Creatures GN – Arcana Studio collaborates with Kiwa Digital to create a unique cultural fusion. Eru is a typical kid, who just wants to play video games all day. But after an argument with his mother, he runs away. He ends up getting lost in the Canadian wilderness, and befriending Gwaii, a boy his age and a Patupaiarehe. They help Eru track down the mystical Raven who can help him get back home, and along the way, encounter some mythical creatures from Canada and New Zealand. This fantasy world created by Arcana Studios and Kiwa Digital is inspired by the stories and mythologies of the Haida First Nation of Canada and the Maori of New Zealand. It’s a great way to introduce kids to the cultural heritage of these indigenous peoples.
CatStronauts Volume 1 Mission Moon GN – Little Brown Book for Young Readers takes one small step for cats, and one giant leap for catkind. The world has been thrust into darkness due to a global energy shortage. There is a plan to build a solar power plant on the moon, but some bold adventurers are needed to set it up. Enter the CatStronauts! Using their bravery, skills, and quick thinking, commander Major Meowser, pilot Waffles, technician Blanket, and science officer Pom Pom take on this important mission! As long as there aren’t any big boxes or tuna sandwiches to distract them. CatStronauts brings humor, cute cat art, and even some science to make a fun-filled trip for any reader.
