The Picks:
Once Upon A Time Machine Volume 2 Greek Gods And Legends TP – Dark Horse Comics brings back the Once Upon A Time Machine series for a new trip into some old tales. Greek mythology takes a spin in the Time Machine this time, as various creators re-imagine the ancient stories set in the far future. Whether it is the year 3016 AD, 4079 AD or 6060 AD, stories from the trials of Heracles to Icarus taking flight to the love songs of Orpheus still fascinate and entertain us. With innovative stories and art, it will be no surprise if this is another hit. It’s a great addition to middle school graphic collections.
Violette Around The World Volume 1 My Head In The Clouds HC – IDW Publishing introduces a girl who travels the globe and has adventures while learning to appreciate the joys of being different. Violette is 12-years-old, living with her parents in their circus, the Circus of the Moon, where her mother is the stuntwoman and her father is an insect tamer. Traveling the world at the end of the 19th century, she is fascinated by the beauty of the world around her. The music, painting, drawing, and nature draw her into adventures that she shares with her friend Samir, a budding trapeze artist, her unusual animal friends and her father’s trained insects. Violette Around the World has a welcome warmth, from the title character to the colorful and cheerful art, something we could all use more of these days.
