The Picks:
Bodie Troll GN – BOOM! Studios collects a series about the cutest troll you ever will see. In the fairy tale village of Hagadorn lurks Bodie Troll. He wants to be fearsome and frightening but is too cute and cuddly to pull it off. He is also persistent, ready to take up any challenge and even a little mischief. Along with Cholly, his best-friend-barmaid, and Fairy Godmother Miz Bijou, Bodie goes on adventures from protecting the village from spellbound beasts to performing shape-changing theater—and hopefully scaring someone along the way. Bodie Troll is a cute and funny fantasy adventure that celebrates the importance of friendship and being true to oneself. It’s a great series for any graphic novel collection.
Sparks GN – Graphix releases a new graphic novel that shows dogs and cats can work together. Sparks the Super Dog is a hero and man’s best friend. But who would suspect under that under that shaggy exterior are two cats? August, a brilliant inventor who is afraid to go outside, and Charlie, a crack pilot who isn’t afraid of anything, leap into danger every day saving lives in their powerful mechanical dog suit! They have their work cut out for them as they go against Princess, the evil alien bent on enslaving mankind, who also looks like a cute, diaper-wearing baby. With her parent-minions, she enacts her clever and dastardly plan to conquer Earth, and only August and Charlie have the right stuff to stop her and save the day. Filled with wildly fun antics and artwork to match, Sparks is a series you won’t want to pass up. (Check out Caleb’s review of Sparks! for more.)
