This Week’s Comics: Waking Rose

Mystery and monsters fill up this week’s list of new releases. Bongo Comics sets super sleuth Lisa Simpson loose in the newest Simpson Comics #242. Lion Forge continues their monster series Wrapped Up #4 with some Kaiju-sized monster action, while Marvel Comics’ own Kaiju Kid has his own sleuthing to do in Monsters Unleashed #10.

The Picks:

 Star Wars Adventures #6 – IDW Publishing debuts one of the new characters from The Last Jedi. Rose Tico is a flight tech for the Resistance. They have moved to a new, larger ship that is being retrofitted, and Rose is spending all her free time reading up on the ship’s specs, which gets her a lot of gruff from the other mechanics and pilots. But when the First Order attacks, Poe Dameron is on his own when the hangar bay doors won’t open. It’s up to Rose to use what she’s learned to save Dameron and the Resistance. Fans of Rose Tico will love this one shot that puts her at the center of the action and really lets her shine.

Hilo Volume 4 Waking The Monsters GN – Random House continues this graphic novel series about a robot boy and his human friends working together to save the world. Hilo, DJ and Gina have had some amazing adventures, but when Mega Robot Monsters suddenly start waking up all over the world, they turn out to be too big and too strong for Hilo. It will take help from Gina, and some brand new super powers to even the playing field. But as they get closer to saving the world from the monsters, the closer Hilo gets to the dark secret of his past. A secret he may not want to know. Hilo is a story filled with action, adventure and humor that kids and parents will love.
