The Picks:
My Little Pony Holiday Special 2017 – IDW Publishing puts an Equestrian twist on the holiday season. Hearthswarming seems to be starting earlier and earlier, especially for Twilight Sparkle and Applejack. Enter the Flim Flam Brothers, who want to turn Hearthswarming into an entire season of decorations, shopping, and holiday mascots. The two ponies try to fight against the manufactured celebrations, but is friendship really the magic of the season everyone wants? The My Little Pony holiday comic specials like to turn the themes you expect from a holiday story on its head, and this issue is no different.
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #27 – Marvel Comics put two of their best characters together in this issue. Squirrel Girl has to get to the other side of the universe to save Nancy and Tippy, who have found themselves on an alien world. But where does one go for intergalactic travel through the cosmic realm? The Sorcerer Supreme of course! But with Doctor Strange gone, Loki has taken up the mantle of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme. Always happy to help, Loki will do his best, but let’s be honest. He is Loki. What could possibly go wrong? The Loki of the comics has been as funny and devious as the Loki of the MCU, guaranteeing this issue will be a fun fest!
