Mech Cadet Yu #1 – B))M! Studios introduces a new world filled with adventure and giant robots! To defend the Earth from the terrifying aliens known as the Sharg, giant robots from outer space come to bond with young cadets from the elite Sky Corps Academy. One giant robot crash lands well away from the academy and meets a young boy who is neither a cadet nor a candidate. It’s a great honor to be chosen, and this robot makes what looks like the wrong choice. There are not enough Giant Robot comics out there, so it’s good to see BOOM! Studios doing their part to rectify this situation. This series is perfect for fans of Amadeus Cho and Pacific Rim.
Surfside Girls Volume 1 The Secret Of Danger Point TP – IDW Publishing finds mystery at the beach. Samantha and Jade are best friends in the seaside town of Surfside, but Jade’s giggle fits whenever she sees a boy throws a wrench into the kick-back summer of surfing and hanging out that Sam had planned. But things really start to get weird after Sam swims through a secret underwater cave and starts to see things, like ghosts and pirates. It’s up to her and Jade to get to the bottom of the mystery before something even scarier shows up and threatens their town. Surfside Girls combines mystery, ghosts and the ocean in the perfect end-of-the-summer read.
