The Picks:
Sweeties Volume 1 Cherry Skye GN – Papercutz’s new imprint Charmz debuts with a sweet title. Cherry Costello, daughter of the owner of a successful candy store franchise, suddenly has four new half-sisters when her father remarries into the Tanberry family. Along with starting a new school in a new town, Cherry has to try to avoid family drama such as meeting Shay, the boyfriend of her older half-sister Honey, and the twins Skye and Summer learning that life is not identical for the two of them. Navigating the sour tensions of her new household will take more than some best selling chocolates, but they can’t hurt. This series is an import from Europe and is based on the UK YA novels series Chocolate Box Girls. Tweens will enjoy this graphic adaptation.
Kingdom Hearts II Volume 4 TP – Yen Press brings this long running adaptation of the Kingdom Hearts II video game to an end. Axel, a member of Organization XIII, abandons it and even an old friend in order to see Roxas again, While Sora is just as determined to return to the Destiny Islands with his friends Riku and Kairi. With Donald and Goofy at his side, Sora arrives at the Organization XIII stronghold to find the kidnapped Kairi and makes his dream come true. This series has had a bumpy history, with only 2 volumes published by Tokyopop before being going on hiatus in Japan and being rescued nearly 10 years later by Yen Press. It’s an ending that has been a long time coming.
