The Picks:
Disney Gravity Falls Shorts Cinestory #1 – Joe Books returns readers to the mysterious world of Gravity Falls with this adaptation of the televised shorts. Dipper and Mabel Pines are spending their summer in Gravity Falls, Oregon, with their Great uncle, or Grunkle Stan, working in his Mystery Shack tourist attraction. The real attraction though, is the town itself, which is filled with strange mysteries that the twins spend their spare time trying to solve. Based on a series of short stories televised in between season 1 & 2, this issue is a great way to introduce new fans to the series with the bite sized stories.
Mermin Volume 5 Making Waves HC – Oni Press wraps up Mermin with a final, climactic volume. As the war between Mer and Atlantis begins, Mermin joins his father while the rest of his friends and family scatter around the battlefield, trying to help in any way they can. Pete takes another tactic, and stages a jailbreak to free a team of Mer-prisoners from Atlantis, in the hopes of making it to Mer in time to stop the war. Mermin has been a delightfully fun ride, and is a great addition to any graphic novel collection. Also, check out our interview with creator Joey Weiser here.
