The Picks:

One Trick PonyNathan Hale’s One Trick Pony GN – Amulet Books brings back Nathan Hale, but for a different kind of dangerous tale. Aliens, hungry for electricity, have invaded the Earth of the future. Giant blobs who suck up electrical devices have sent much of humanity back to the pre-electrical age, while others have become bandits and outlaws. Some, like Strata and her family, are digital rescuers, saving electronics wherever they can, hoping to keep the memory of civilization alive. Separated from the caravan, Strata and her brother must rely on a beautiful and rare robot pony to escape the outlaws and aliens, and maybe even defeat the invaders once and for all! This story promises plenty of action in a once and future time that kids will really enjoy.

Star Scouts 1Star Scouts Volume 1 GN – First Second blasts off with a new series of far off adventures. Avani is new in town, but doesn’t really fit in, especially with the girls in her Flower Scouts troop, who are more interested in makeover and boys than having fun and going on adventures. She might have finally found her place when she is “accidentally” abducted by a spunky alien Star Scout named Mabel. She joins Mabel in collecting other alien specimens, teleporting, jetpack racing and going to Camp Andromeda, as long as she can keep her father from finding out she’s left planet Earth. With great designs and an exciting story, this series is a perfect addition to tween graphic novel shelves.
