Kid Beowulf Volume 2 The Song Of Roland GN – AMP! Comics for Kids continues their series of myths and monsters. Beowulf and Grendel, 12-year-old twin brothers have been banished from their homeland, and are hunted by two assassins. They have traveled to Francia to seek refuge from their Uncle Ogier, but Francia has troubles of its own, with King Charlemagne ailing, his knights in exile, and an invading Saracen horde knocking at the border. It’s up to Beowulf and Grendel to give Francia’s young hero Roland a good kick in the pants and help him unite the country before it’s too late. Myths have been getting quite the makeover recently with Percy Jackson and George O’Connor’s Olympians. It’s exciting to see this great new twist on the old English epic poem that also breathes new life into it.
Science Comics Bats Learning To Fly HC – First Second Books puts the remarkable but misunderstood bat in the spotlight. Injured by humans on a nature hike, a little brown bat is taken to a bat rehabilitation center. While his wing is healing, he meets many different species of bats, who teach him how they fly, what they eat, and where they like to live. Bats have long had a bad reputation with humans, but these cute and fluffy flying mammals, sometimes called “Sky Puppies,” deserve to have that set straight with science!
