This Week’s Comics: Peculiar Rebels

IDW Publishing releases the first issue in a new Angry Birds Comics, Game Play, while Titan Entertainment Group has its own transtemporal mystery tour with the ongoing Doctor Who series featuring the Ninth Doctor, Rose, and Captain Jack.

Baker Street Peculiars TP – BOOM! Studios lets Eisner Award winner Roger Langridge loose in the world of Sherlock Holmes. Overwhelmed with his caseload, Sherlock Holmes recruits three precocious young detectives-in-training to solve the mystery of a giant lion statue coming to life in Trafalgar Square and wreaking havoc. Molly, Rajani, Humphrey, and Wellington, the cunning golden retriever, must work together, using all their wits to uncover the truth and save London. But the bigger mystery might be the real identity of the famous detective who brought them together. Featuring a diverse case, the Langridge’s clever writing, and Andy Hirsch’s art, Baker Street Peculiars is a fun series readers of any age will enjoy.
Princess Leia Royal Rebel SC – Scholastic continues their Backstories series of character biographies with the beloved princess from the Star Wars Universe. Princess Leia is the rebel leader against the evil Empire, but who is she? How did she become a rebel leader? What happened to her after the Empire was defeated? This biography answers these questions and more, complete with black-and-white illustrations, timelines, character profiles and more facts than you can shake a light saber at. This is a great resource for introducing Princess Leia to young readers as well as older fans who just want more history of their favorite royal rebel.
