Releases for all ages books have really matured over the last several years. Just a few years ago, making a list around New Years would have been a chore. Now, there’s no problem making a well rounded list! Even the youngest of readers can find something. Golden Books has jumped on the comics bandwagon with versions of Doctor Strange and other Marvel Super Heroes, and even Grumpy Cat is getting their own books. Random House for Young Readers has joined the fray, with readers featuring DC Comics’ Super Friends, Marvel’s Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy, and even the Stormtroopers from Star Wars. Start ’em early to enjoy reading books and comics!

The Picks:

archie-dd-275Archie Comics Double Digest #275 – Archie Comics takes on the Pokemon Go craze. In the new lead story for this double digest, the kids of Riverdale are riveted by the newest rage, the game Cosmo Go!, and are running all over town trying to catch all the rare Cosmo characters, including the rarest of them all – Cosmo himself! Pop Tate tries to get in on the success of the game by becoming a COSMO STOP, but a mix up thanks to Archie makes the Lodge mansion the hotspot, making Mr. Lodge hot under the collar! Archie does a really good job of keeping its stories entertaining and relevant for today’s readers.

pokemon-b2-w2-v1 Pokémon Adventures Black 2 And White 2 Volume 1 GN – Viz Media continues the saga in the Unova region with the adaptation of the game Black 2 and White 2. A few years have passed since the end of the events in Black and White. Colress, the new leader of Team Plasma, is attacking the Unova region with his machine-controlled Pokémon and wielding their powers for evil instead of good. Fortunately, there is a way to jam the signals. Unfortunately, it’s stored on a memory card in the possession of a girl at the Pokémon Trainers’ School. Blake, a member of the International Police, goes undercover at the school to try to find it before Team Plasma beats him to it. Just like Pokémon Go, the Pokemon Adventures manga is easily enjoyed by readers of all ages, without any previous Pokemon experience.
