The Picks:

Lumberjanes Axe Special Lumberjanes Makin’ The Ghost Of It 2016 Special #1 – BOOM! Studios releases another Lumberjanes one-shot that feature two original stories. While on a nature walk to show the girls which plants are edible in case they need to survive in the wilderness, Jen tells them a story about an axe murderer who took out his friends one by one. Mal, thoroughly scared by the story, is too terrified to sleep and thinks she sees something lurking outside. Could it be the axe murderer? Or worse, his ghost?! Writers Jen Wang (In Real Life) and Kelly Thompson (Jem and the Holograms) have embraced the fun and mystery that has made Lumberjanes popular with readers of all ages, and they add some more great tales to its exciting mythos. This special is not to be passed up.

Future Quest 1Future Quest #1 – DC Comics brings back Hanna-Barbera’s action and sci-fi heroes in an epic crossover that is not to be ignored. Near the Quest compound in the swamplands in Florida, the adventurous and inquisitive Jonny Quest and his adoptive brother Hadji make a starting discovery: A dangerous villain threatens not just the Earth, but the whole galaxy. It’s only through Team Quest combining forces with the Space Rangers, Inter-Nation Security, Space Ghost, and others that they might have a chance to stop him. Not only does this series feature many of the awesome action heroes from Hanna-Barbera, but the character designs are by the late Darwyn Cooke. It’s a great tribute to his love of the characters and medium.
