‘Camp Midnight’ Creators to Make FCBD Appearances
Saturday, May 7, is Free Comic Book Day, when comic shops offer a selection of specially printed comics for free (regular comics are not free!). Click here to find the nearest participating comic shop, and pay them a visit. Check with your local library, too, as a lot of libraries have special events. I rounded up the kid-friendly titles a while ago, but be aware that not all of them will be available in every shop.
One of the new titles worth checking out is Camp Midnight, by Steven T. Seagle and Jason Adam Katzenstein. Seagle is the co-creator of the Big Hero 6 comics team and the co-founder of Man of Action Entertainment, which created Ben 10; Katzenstein is a cartoonist for the New Yorker. Camp Midnight came out on April 27, and the first chapter is one of Image’s FCBD comics. Here’s a preview. I like the description they put in the blurb: “Camp Midnight is the perfect book for readers who love Raina Telgemeier’s Smile but wish it had more bowls of gooey eyeballs in the lunch scenes.”
Both creators will be making appearances on Free Comic Book Day:
Steven and Jason will be spending the morning of FCBD/May 7th at Steven’s local store:
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
1298 E Colorado Blvd,
Pasadena, CA 91106
And in the afternoon they will both be at Jason’s local store:
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
GALAXY OF COMICS
17306 Saticoy St.
Van Nuys, CA 91406
How are you celebrating FCBD? Let us know in the comments!
