This Week’s Comics: Brilliant Fairy’s Tale

January ends with a tempest of titles from plenty of publishers. IDW Publishing starts a new story arc in their ongoing Jem and the Holograms #11. BOOM! Studios has the second volume of their Magical Girl series Bee and Puppycat, and Vertical Comics releases the second volume of their Complete Chi’s Sweet Home, with more cute kitten cuteness.

Apollo is best know as the god of the sun, riding his shining chariot across the sky, but there is more to this Olympian than just being a pretty boy. George O’Connor finds the inspiration to tell the the Greek god’s stories of his birth, ill-fated loves, and prognostications through the nine muses. O’Connor’s takes on the tales of the gods are fresh and always entertaining.

Cici 1Cici A Fairy’s Tale Volume 1 Believe Your Eyes – Lerner Publishing Group starts a new series where fairies are as real as the choices we make. Turning ten brings a lot of changes for Cici. Her parents are separating, her wacky abuela is moving in, and she now has fairy wings! She has one day to decide if she’ll keep them and the new magical powers that lets her see people as they truly are. But learning the truth about family and friends isn’t easy. She must choose between believing in the power of fairies or believing in her wish that life can be normal again. Young readers will love the magic and appreciate the problems Cici must face and overcome.
