This Week’s Comics: Just in Time for SDCC
It’s time for San Diego Comic Con! If you’re not going (like most of us), pick a pile of comics from your local comic shop, then go somewhere crowded and stand in line to simulate the experience! Read the latest issue of Titan Comics’ Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor while pretending to wait in line for Hall H. Anticipate more Star Wars announcements while reading Star Wars Jedi Academy Volume 3 from Scholastic, or soak in the nostalgia with the first issue of Invader Zim from Oni Press.

The Picks:
Archie #1 – Archie Comics reboots its flagship title. Archie Andrews should be looking forward to the coming school year with new classes and lots of fun with his friends, but a dark cloud hangs over him, as well as over the entire small town of Riverdale. Can Archie’s friends Reggie and Jughead help him and bring some light back to his, and the town’s, lives? Written and drawn by the power team of Mark Waid and Fiona Staples (Saga), this story brings the long-running title out of the idyllic era of the 50s and into the modern world.
Princeless: Raven The Pirate Princess #1 – Action Lab gives us the first Princeless spin-off ongoing series, picking up where vol. 3 of Princeless left off. Raven Xingtao, the Pirate Princess, is getting ready to set off on a quest for revenge against her brothers, who have stolen her inheritance. But first she needs a crew. Princeless has been such a fun series that seeing it get not only a spinoff but an ongoing one is great. It’s a win for everyone.
