This Week’s Comics: I Am Bat-Mite!
It’s the end of an era in this week’s new releases. Archie Comics is rebooting their flagship title Archie, ending the original series this month on the ominous issue #666. IDW Publishing says goodbye to Samurai Jack with its final issue, #20. But don’t let those get you down. Marvel and DC have new all-ages titles starting up, including Bizarro, Little AvX, and Marvel Universe Ant-Man, just in time for the movie coming out this summer.

The Picks:
Bat-Mite #1 – DC releases a new all-ages title featuring one of its wackiest—heroes? Villains? Batmite, banished from his own dimension, appears in the DC Universe. Convinced that he’s the imp that put Batman on the map, he’s decided to share his expertise to boost the careers of heroes he thinks need his “help.” In the wake of DC’s recent Convergence event, characters from worlds previously removed are back, and that includes the wacky annoyance that is Batmite. Kids will love watching Batmite hinder more than help his new “friends” and will probably love even more the frustration he brings to the returning DC heroes.
Groot #1 – Marvel finally gives the most famous talking-tree-thing in the Universe his own series! Rocket Raccoon and Groot are on an intergalactic road trip when calamity strikes and the two are separated. For the first time in years, Groot is on his own as he goes intergalactic hitchhiking and faces off against aliens and space sharks amid a myriad of explosions. Groot was one of the highlights of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, so it’s about time he got his own series. And it’s got Space Sharks. You can not pass up a series with Space Sharks.
