The Picks:

Lunch Witch Volume 1 GN – Papercutz debuts a wicked good series. Grunhilda comes from a long line of witches and is skilled in cooking up potfuls of foul brew with her ancestors’ recipes and cauldron, but no one believes in magic anymore. The only job she can find that would suit her talents is lunch lady. Grunhilda delights in scaring the kids until she meets Madison, an outsider like her who doesn’t fit in. Madison needs help at school and at home, but helping people goes against everything Grunhilda believes as a witch. Will Grunhilda warm up to the girl, or will she turn her back on a kindred spirit? Kids of all ages will enjoy seeing the scary taken out of the lunch lady, while parents and teachers can use the Common Core Guide to tie it in to school.

Wild Piano A Philemon Adventure GN – Toon Books releases the second volume in the Philemon series. Philemon, a farm boy, fell down a well and ended up on the mysterious island of ‘A’. He barely escaped with his life, but he had to leave a friend behind. So he returns to the A-T-L-A-N-T-I-C to search for him. His journey will take him so deep into the letters that he may never see his farm again. But still he must press on through the surprises that await him on the mysterious island of ‘N’. Castaway on the Letter A was a strange, surreal, yet fun journey that captured kids’ imaginations. This second volume will no doubt do the same.
